Mario Pergolini got involved in Boca's crisis and took aim at Riquelme: "He doesn't know football."

Fernando Gago 's dismissal was the top topic of the Argentine soccer agenda. And Juan Román Riquelme , Boca 's president, was caught in the eye of the storm for his decision to fire the coach after losing the Superclásico to River Plate . Many fans agree with the idol, while others are critical. And the one who didn't hold back was Mario Pergolini , who was Román and Jorge Amor Ameal 's running mate in the 2019 elections. "He doesn't know anything about soccer," the radio host said.
First, it's worth clarifying that Pergolini has been feuding with Riquelme for many years. The action that distanced them when they were Ameal's henchmen was the creation of a social media account for Boca Juniors. Communications was supposed to be handled by the journalist. Pergolini then rebuked Román for intruding on his turf, that of communications and marketing. It wasn't the first time he'd put obstacles in his way. The manager had already threatened to leave before. At the time, he was very upset because the official channel's cameras hadn't been allowed into the Ezeiza stadium and he was denied interviews with the players. They couldn't even speak with Luis Vázquez, a reserve youth player. And "a very important story" was even announced on Boca TV. Román was expected. Trueno, a fan rapper, appeared.
Since Pergolini slammed the door in March 2021, he has been highly critical of Riquelme, who almost never responded to him. "We need to get rid of the incompetent people who hire. They make bad choices. Riquelme should hire a manager because he doesn't know how to buy, he doesn't know about football. He knew how to play football, but he doesn't know about football," Mario said on his Vorterix show.
And he continued: "I'm thinking about just one thing. Are they really throwing him out at night? Can't they do normal things? Can't they do it in the afternoon, in a logical place? Not to make it to today. Don't you know we don't throw people out after a classic? It's pointless, I know it's pointless, but we don't do it. It's one of the few things we have left. We have nothing. They don't even leave us folklore. Nothing. Who else now? Herrón's back. Poor Herrón. And who's going to come? Are they really thinking about Kily González?"

Pergolini's new criticisms add to those he already made last year on a YouTube channel. "Boca's last few years haven't been good. Boca Predio ended up being more important than Brandsen, and that's a mistake. The club and Boca Predio should have gone together. I think Riquelme was very concerned about Boca Predio because it's like a stronghold for him. In recent years, we haven't been winning in the youth and lower divisions; Boca isn't doing so well. Boca is a single institution; we're not two clubs, we're one club. I think dividing is never good," Mario stated.
Will there be a response from Román or a member of the Council?
